What’s new in Windows 10 v1903?

Windows Search and Cortana are now separated

The Windows 10 May 2019 Update is introducing some interesting new features. The first notable change a lot of users will probably discover is that the Windows search box is now separate from Cortana. The taskbar includes both a Type here to search box and Cortana button. Entering keywords in the Type here to search box opens a separate search window with redesigned UI.

Meet Windows Sandbox

Windows Sandbox is a notable new addition to Win 10 Enterprise and Pro. That is a new sandbox mode that enables users to open new programs in a container window. Then users can check if the program is a reputable package before installing and running it outside Windows Sandbox.

Reserved storage

Microsoft has added reserved storage to Windows 10 1903. Windows 10 1903 automatically reserves about seven GB storage to ensure there’s enough free space for updates. However, users can configure the amount of storage space reserved.

Windows 10 v1903 has got a light theme

Users can select a new light theme in Windows 10 1903. The theme adds a lighter shade of blue to the Start menu, taskbar, and other UI elements. That comes with a default wallpaper background to match the theme.

Enhanced font management options

Windows 10 v1903’s Settings app also includes enhanced font management options. Now users can drag-and-drop font files onto an Add fonts box to install them. Furthermore, users can click on installed fonts to view previews and additional details for them.

New mouse options in Settings

There are new mouse cursor options in Settings too. Users can select custom cursor colors from a palette and expand or reduce the cursor with a Change pointer size bar.

Those are just some of the new things users will discover in Win 10 1903. However, it might worth checking the new Windows Health Dashboard for version 1903 before updating. That page provides further details for the Windows 10 May 2018 Update’s current status and known issues. RELATED ARTICLES TO CHECK OUT:
