The screen capture sound has been around since the days of Windows Phone 7. It’s old, tired and just needs to go in order for something new to take its place. What we would have preferred, however, is for Microsoft to give users a choice. People who are still down with the old sound should be allowed to use it, while those who find solace in the new sound can choose to enable it if they please. Outside of the new screen capture sound, the next update could come with Action Center improvements. The new Action Center no longer shows a background icon for apps according to MSPoweruser, making it similar to the Action Center found on Windows 10. Before you get overexcited and scream with glee, this update is not yet available to the public but will likely come in the next release. Furthermore, this update will only be available to those who are part of the Windows Insider Program. These are just some of the features Microsoft is planning to release in the Anniversary Update for Windows 10 Mobile. We hope more significant features are in the pipeline because these are not interesting enough to get us excited about Microsoft’s mobile platform. After years of being on the market, Windows on mobile devices is still struggling to stay relevant in an increasingly hostile smartphone market. Hopefully, the Surface Phone, a device rumored for a 2017 release, will increase consumer and developer activity or else the platform might just dip and never rise again.
