Microsoft has recently unveiled a preview release of the upcoming alerting and monitoring service for Azure backup, following users’ requests. Giridhar Mosay, Program Manager of Cloud + Enterprise, says this new service simplifies the user experience, allowing user to customize the alerts they receive. In case you are already using Azure backup via the recovery services vault, then you should update to the latest Azure backup client in order to use the new feature. If you have configured email notifications, we suggest you to turn them off before enrolling and then turn them back on.

How To Enroll to Azure Alerting and Monitoring Preview

Here are the steps you need to take in order to enroll to the subscriptions for this preview release:

First of all, you will need to log into your Azure account from Windows Azure PowerShell (visit Microsoft’s website to learn how to install Azure PowerShell on your computer) Open Azure Power Shell and type “Login-AzureRmAccount” After logging in, type: Get-AzureRmSubscription-SubscriptionName “Subscription Name Here” | Select-AzureRmSubscription Finally, register the subscription for alerting preview by typing the following: Register – AzureRmProviderFeature – FeatureName MABAlertingFeature – ProviderNamespace Microsoft.RecoveryServices.

After doing this, you can access the new feature that Azure has received. If you find any bugs or errors, please report them as soon as possible to Microsoft, so that the developers can fix them.
