Making the announcement, Bill Stillwell, the Xbox Lead Program manager, said that as of April 10, 2018, Xbox One console owners will be able to play six classic Star Wars titles, plus other classic hits such as Read Dead Redemption, Gears of War 2, Portal 2, and Darksiders. For the first time, Sonic Generations is also available now on the Xbox One console. All games can be played using either the disc version or digital copy of the title from Microsoft Store.

Also included with the original Xbox additions are Xbox One X Enhanced updates to the existing Xbox 360 games, which are already available, and others which will be added to Xbox One’s Backward Compatibility catalog in the next two weeks this month. Players will also have the choice to play the titles in their original state without enhancements. The first batch of games will be released on April 17, 2018 and includes titles such as The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Blinx: The Time Sweeper, Breakdown, Conker: Live & Reloaded, Hunter: The Reckoning, Jade Empire, SSX 3, and Panzer Dragoon Orta. The second batch is set to be released on April 26, 2018, and includes Destroy All Humans!, Full Spectrum Warrior, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, MX Unleashed, Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory (Europe only), Star Wars: Battlefront, Star Wars: Battlefront II, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, and Star Wars: Republic Commando.
