New Windows 10 SKU Last week, Microsoft accidentally pushed a Windows 10 build out to Insiders. In it, Twitter user @AndIts Tito discovered a reference to a Windows 10 SKU called Windows 10 Pro for Advanced PCs. After that, Twitter user named @GrandMofongo revealed an internal Microsoft slide that presents the SKU as Windows 10 Pro for Workstation PCs. This leaked slide shows that the new edition of Windows 10 will provide sustained performance for server-grade hardware. According to the slide, the focus will be targeted at four major areas: By engaging in the new Workstation mode for demanding workloads, you’ll get the benefits of multi-core server CPUs and high-end PC hardware. SMBDirect allows file transfer between PCs with fast speeds, low CPU use, and latency. This will be suitable for working on larger datasets. You can increase the resilience, scalability, and performance of Advanced PCs or Workstation machines by running Microsoft’s server grade ReFs file system targeted at high fault tolerance and at handling large data volumes. You can run demanding workloads by running Windows 10 Pro Workstation on PCs with high-end configs including a maximum number of 4 CPUs and up to 6TB of memory. The focus on server-grade hardware and power shows that this new edition of Windows 10 will involve enterprise scenarios. Other leaked slide notes say that this will only be the beginning, so we should expect that the new SKU to evolve a lot over time. RELATED STORIES TO CHECK OUT:
