Andromeda OS is to blame for the delay
It seems that one of the reasons for which the mobile device won’t get to see daylight, at least not during this year, is the Andromeda OS which is said to be powering the new gadget. The Surface Phone will not be included in time for the Redstone 5’s launch due to scheduling and quality issues, according to ZDNet. There’s even more bad news, as it seems that we might not get to see the Surface Phone in the next version of the OS either. There’s also another reason for all of this, and that’s because Microsoft doesn’t see enough demand for a pocket-sized foldable Surface device which can only run apps included in the Store. On the other hand, the Surface Phone might make it to market as a larger PC-sized device that will be able to run regular apps, but this is not a sure thing.
Microsoft reorganization might have also played a role
Mary Jo also believes that this decision was made just within the last few weeks and she blames the whole thing on the company’s reorganization that took place back in April. She said that the latest leaks which were made by internals aimed to drum up some external support for the project.
