Currently, Windows 10 handles updates on mobile data networks (metered connection) in a manner different from those over Wi-Fi connections. That is because updates released by Microsoft can consume large bandwidth, therefore leading to costly bills.  To help control huge data charges, Windows 10 downloads only the Priority Updates over metered connections. However, a new report from SuperSite Windows indicates that the Windows build 15058, now available on the Insider Fast Ring, has altered that setup. The Windows Update section within Windows Settings now states that it will “automatically download only those updates required to keep Windows running smoothly” on metered connections. Before, Windows 10 dispplayed the following language concerning Windows updates: The new language now presents the following message: It was not immediately clear what these priority updates are or what size an update should have to qualify as a priority item. Microsoft has now alleviated worries among Windows 10 users by clarifying that it does not plan to push large updates over metered connections. On the other hand, the software giant intends for the change to send critical fixes whenever necessary going forward. Redmond is also developing a new update delivery method that will push smaller updates in the future regardless of the nature of connection.
